Checkers™ Website Ushers in a New Era

We’re pleased to have the newly updated and redesigned Checkers website launched. This site, in-line with the new branding design, merges Checkers’ three power brands into a single site. The goal of this renewed site is not only to update the branding, but to create a more valuable resource for our customers and team.

So, what’s changed and what should you expect in the coming days?

This new content replaces what was on checkers-safety.com. On the now-live site you will notice a few significant improvements.

  • The site has an improved, brighter look that is more inviting and engaging to the user.
  • All Checkers’ products are available on this single site. The Linebacker, Monster, and TuffTrak products are now branded exclusively as Checkers products. Only heavy-duty matting will retain the TuffTrak name.
  • The product organization has been improved, reducing the number of clicks to reach a product.
  • All literature has been rebranded with the new Checkers brand.
  • All Checkers products are now able to be quoted from a single quote form. No more visiting different websites to quote different products.
  • Each product page now has all specification data in table form that is easier to read and can be copied for easy sharing.
  • Beginning now, customers can be directed to Checkers-safety.com for all product information.

What Should You Expect? Some changes could not happen until the updated site was live.

  • In the coming days we will begin the process of pulling down Linebacker-safety.com and Monster-safety.com. These URL addresses will automatically redirect to Checkers-safety.com.
  • SEO (search engine optimization) and online marketing will be changed, directing to the updated site.

Customers and general visitors will be able to easily navigate the website in a way that visitors to the old site couldn’t. Every product page is tailored to be accessible and knowledgeable. With that said, we want to continually strive to be better. We look forward to making many new improvements and sharing them with you.

Environmental Impact of Recycled Rubber Parking Stops

Our parking stops are made from recycled rubberA core part of our company mission statement “A dynamic, global team dedicated to protecting people, assets, and the environment,” is protecting the environment. While many of our products are designed to do exactly this, it’s also a broader company philosophy that we embrace. One example of this is the manufacturing process behind our rubber parking stops. We receive raw, recycled rubber from a variety of sources, including a local Bridgestone Tire factory. Using our proprietary polyurethane binder to hold the mixture together, we then create the premium, high-grade rubber that we mold into our parking stops. Between our two plants, we recycle an average of 1 million pounds of rubber per month. However considering that the average tire weighs between 14 and 16 lbs., and 300 million are scrapped per year, 1 million pounds is only a drop in the bucket.

Recycling tires helps reduce the health and environmental risks they pose

Tires present a unique environmental challenge because they are not biodegradable. In addition taking up large amounts of space in landfills, they also create other unfortunate health risks. It’s a little-known fact that tires can be breeding grounds for mosquitos, especially in tropical climates. Per a special report by the Tire and Rubber Recycling Advisory Council, “Tires are often targeted as the prime candidates for mosquito breeding because it is difficult to remove water from them, and they retain heat, which further exacerbates the conditions that attract mosquitos.” In areas where diseases such as malaria and West Nile Virus are common, scrap tires can be a deadly hazard. Additionally, should a tire scrapyard catch fire, it is impossible to extinguish and will produce acid smoke harmful to both humans and the environment.

Recycled rubber is a great resource for manufacturing quality products

The good news, however, is that tires are 100% recyclable. Per ReRubber.com, “The high quality of steel and rubber found in tires are easily reintegrated into the manufacturing process at very minimal or no change to existing manufacturing processes.” There are many ways to use recycled rubber; it is often found in “rubber mulch,” a product used on playground surfaces, athletic facilities, and gardens. Additionally, recycled rubber can be used for various automotive and infrastructural sealants, and, of course, our premium rubber parking stops.

At Checkers, we pride ourselves on manufacturing our Linebacker line of cable protectors from top of the line polyurethane. Some of the advantages that gaffer tape offers are its low cost and quick installation. Indeed, you can buy a 50-yard roll of gaffer tape for around $10, which puts the price per foot around 7 cents. Being based in Colorado, everyone knows that Red Rocks Amphitheater is the best place for live entertainment during the spring and summer months. This table highlights the biggest advantage of the Yellow Jacket Series Cable Protector: its durability.
